RHODES. AR Didrachm.
Struck circa 250–190 BC. Silver, 6.68 g, 18 mm.
Obv: Radiate head of Helios facing slightly right (three-quarter view).
Rev: Rose in profile with bud to right; vine tendril and magistrate letter (Ε, partially visible) in left field.
Well-centred example of the iconic civic coinage of Rhodes. The radiate portrait of Helios reflects the island’s patron deity, while the rose (a pun on the city’s name) serves as the traditional civic badge. Struck on the Rhodian didrachm standard. Attractive Hellenistic style with clear reverse details.
