Silver Shilling of King James II, dated 1685, the first year of his short reign (1685–1688).
Obverse:
Laureate and draped bust of James II facing left.
Legend: IACOBVS II DEI GRATIA (James II by the Grace of God).
Reverse (standard type for the issue):
Cruciform shields of England, Scotland, Ireland and France arranged in cross formation, sceptres in angles, central crowned Garter star. Date in the reverse legend.
Milled edge. Struck in sterling silver (.925).
