A sharply struck 1949 George VI Half Crown, professionally graded Mint State 63 by NGC.
The obverse features the bare-headed portrait of King George VI facing left, designed by T.H. Paget, with full and clear legend. The reverse (not shown here) displays the crowned royal shield within a garter, a classic post-war British design.
This example shows:
-
Strong mint lustre remaining
-
Clean fields for the grade
-
Well-defined hair detail and lettering
-
Attractive original surfaces
MS63 examples offer excellent eye appeal without the premium jump seen in MS64 and above, making them a strong value choice for collectors building high-grade George VI type sets.
